Tarmac Surfacing

Local Tarmac Repairs Nationwide

A tarmac surface rarely fails all at once. It starts with a hairline crack or a soft edge, water gets in, and each frost opens the damage a little further. Catch it at that stage and a cut-out patch or a thin overlay puts it right for a fraction of what a full rebuild would cost you.

We lay new tarmac and repair existing surfaces for businesses, estates and property managers across the Midlands from our base in Bedworth, and take on work further afield when a client needs us. Patching, overlays and full resurfacing are all part of the job, so the advice you get at survey is about what your surface needs, not what we happen to sell.

Every repair is cut back to sound material, cleaned, bonded to the existing surface and sealed at the joints. That joint is where a cheap patch lets water back in, so it is where we spend the time.

Why choose us

Why site managers choose us for tarmac

  • Repairs that stay put

We cut back to sound material and seal every joint, which stops water getting under the patch and starting the same failure again.

  • The fix your surface needs

At survey we tell you whether a patch, an overlay or a resurface makes sense for your budget and how long you need it to last.

  • Over 20 years laying tarmac

Two decades of car parks, yards and private roads means the survey picks up drainage and sub-base problems before they cost you money.

  • Cleared for commercial sites

SafeContractor Gold status, a DBS checked team and £10 million public liability cover make us straightforward to approve for work on busy premises.

  • Guaranteed and tidy

All work is guaranteed, and the site is swept and cleared before we leave, so the area is ready for use once the new surface has cooled.

How the job runs

How a tarmac job runs

  • 1

    Step 01

    Site survey

We walk the area with you, check the surface for movement and standing water, and measure it so your quote covers the real extent of the damage.

  • 2

    Step 02

    Cut and prepare

Damaged areas are saw cut back to firm material and dug out. For new surfaces we excavate, then lay and compact the sub-base before any tarmac arrives.

  • 3

    Step 03

    Lay and compact

Hot material goes down at the right depth, is raked to level and rolled while it is still workable, so it reaches full density and resists water.

  • 4

    Step 04

    Seal and hand back

Joints are sealed, edges finished and the site swept clean. We walk the finished area with you before you open it back up to traffic.

Pricing

What affects the cost of tarmac repairs

Every quote follows a free site survey, because the price depends on what is under the surface as much as the area you can see.

  • 01

    Area and access

Larger open areas cost less per square metre to lay than small, awkward patches that have to be worked by hand around obstacles.

  • 02

    Depth of the dig-out

A surface-only repair is quicker than one where the base has failed and has to be excavated and rebuilt before new tarmac goes on.

  • 03

    Drainage and levels

If water currently ponds on the area, correcting the falls or adding a gully adds to the job but stops the next repair being needed.

  • 04

    Working around your business

Phased work, out-of-hours working or keeping part of a car park open for customers can change how many visits the job takes.

FAQs

Tarmac repair questions

Does new tarmac need a sub-base?

Yes. New tarmac is a relatively thin layer that relies on what is beneath it for strength. Without a compacted stone sub-base, the ground moves under traffic and the surface cracks or sinks. Where an existing concrete or tarmac surface is stable, it can sometimes act as the base. We check what is there at survey and quote for the depth your site needs.

Can you match a repair to the existing tarmac?

We match the material type and texture as closely as the existing surface allows, but a new repair will look darker than tarmac that has weathered for years, and the difference fades as it ages. What matters more is that the repair sits flush and is sealed at the joints, so it performs like the surface around it.

How soon can vehicles use a repaired area?

Tarmac needs to cool before it takes traffic, and how long that takes depends on the thickness laid and the weather on the day. Smaller repairs are generally back in use sooner than large new areas. We give you guidance on the day and can phase the work so part of your site stays open.

Why do some tarmac patches fail so quickly?

Most early failures come down to preparation. If a patch is laid in a hole that has not been cut back to firm edges, cleaned out and bonded to the surrounding surface, water gets into the joint and frost pushes it apart. We saw cut the edges, apply a bond coat and seal the joints so the repair and the existing surface act as one.

Do you work on driveways as well as commercial sites?

Most of our tarmac work is for commercial premises, estates and private roads, but we also lay and repair driveways. The same approach applies: a survey of the ground, careful preparation of the base and a sealed finish. Call 0121 6738596 to arrange a free survey and quote.
